DeGarmo & Key "The Pledge" Verses & Lyrics Day Two

The closer we grow to Christ, the more we feel like....
Aliens & Strangers

Hebrews 10:25 Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Peter 2:9-12 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. (10) Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. (11) Dear friends, I urge you, as aliens and strangers in the world, to abstain from sinful desires, which war against your soul. (12) Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.

John 18:36 Jesus said, "My kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jews. But now my kingdom is from another place."

James 4:4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

Hebrews 11:8-10 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. (9) By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. (10) For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. (2) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Lyrics -

Sunday morning, the pews are filled with friends of mine, yea, friends of mine
And for the first time, I look around and I realize, I realize My closest friends are aliens and strangers, travelers here, living with danger
My closest friends are aliens and strangers, travelers here, living with danger

I used to wonder why they act so strange
Now I know, yea, now I know
I heard the preacher say
This world we’re in is not our home, it’s not our home
My closest friends are aliens and strangers, travelers here, living with danger
My closest friends are aliens and strangers, travelers here, living with danger
They’re pilgrims just passing through
Heroes from their homeland
And since I’ve discovered the truth
I look at my friends
And I can’t help but think that
All my friends, they’re aliens
Just passing through, yea, they’re aliens
